PAA is proud to welcome
Michelle Dorrance,
an exciting new face on the international tap scene! Teaching,
choreographing and performing all over the world, she has appeared with
the greatest names in tap, including Savion Glover, Dianne Walker,
Heather Cornell, Ted Levy, Sam Weber, Brenda Buffalino, and more! She is
a regular faculty member at Broadway Dance Center in NYC, and she
teaches and performs as a soloist at tap festivals worldwide, including
Finland, Brazil, Japan and Germany.
Michelle is currently a member of Barbara Duffy and Company,
deez and deez, Manhattan Tap,
and appears as guest artist with many companies. As a founding member of
Savion Glover’s company Ti Dii, Michelle performed at the Joyce Theater, Monaco Dance Festival's
Nijinsky Awards,
the 2002 Winter Olympics,
the Jerry Lewis Telethon,
and the Cannes Film Festival.
She performed in the tap superstar show, Imagine Tap and was dance captain and soloist in the premier run of Common Ground.
Michelle was a dancer with the vintage jazz band "The Squirrel Nut
Zippers" and a cultural ambassador to Russia. Michelle's choreography
has been featured at Jacob’s Pillow, at Birdland with members of the
Duke Ellington Orchestra, in the NYC Tap Festival's Gala performances,
as well as in a commercial for Toyota Taiwan. She also holds a Bachelor
of Arts from New York University's Gallatin school.
Michelle is honored to have spent time with and has been heavily
influenced by Gene Medler, Savion Glover, Dianne Walker, Josh Hilberman,
Ted Levy, Sam Weber, Brenda Buffalino, Barbara Duffy, Buster Brown,
Cholly Atkins, Jimmy Slyde and Mable Lee.
